CRU Athletics
Our Principles
The administration, staff, and coaches of Catholic High School support the school’s mission in all endeavors, including facilitating a comprehensive and balanced athletic program for the purpose of promoting healthy competition among students.
Our athlete-centered coaching philosophy cultivates the well-rounded development of each student-athlete and promotes the principles of good sportsmanship, teamwork, leadership, and integrity. Student-athletes participate in prayer, retreats, and community outreach as members of the athletic teams at CHS.
All policies and procedures are in accordance with the Catholic Diocese of Richmond, the Tidewater Conference of Independent Schools, and the Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association.
An Athletic Tradition
The athletic program at Catholic High School offers 39 different interscholastic teams for students in grades 9-12. As a member of both the Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association (VISAA) and the Tidewater Conference of Independent Schools (TCIS), our athletes compete for state and league championships on a regular basis.
Growth Through Sports
More than 75% of our students participate on at least one of our sports teams at the JV or varsity level. Our athletic department emphasizes the significance of competition in building young men and women of character. Teamwork, leadership, and discipline are valued traits that transfer to both classroom and community life. We strive to demonstrate grace in victory and sportsmanship in defeat.
